Mafia Generations is an HTLM-based free browser-based game where players
compete to control mafia-driven cities around the world. The game was
created by Free Flex Gaming, which is based out of Glasgow, Scotland. It
was released on November 1st, 2009 (world 1) and April 29th 2011 (world
2). It has been rapidly grown and as of January 22, 2012, Mafia
Generations has over 1400 players. The game is largely player-driven,
where cities, districts and towns can be controlled and changed based on
player interaction.
==Gameplay==
Players begin at their home screen without money or experience and
living in a dumpster. A mobster is available to guide new players
through the basics of the game, and leads you to the use of specialty
items such as the "noob pack", which grants you start supply of $50,000,
20 small crack rocks, and 3 skeleton keys. New players have a choice of
gangs to join or go it alone, and they can set their own goals and
priorities to pursue. They can also choose to go on missions, which
provide MG credits, cash or items.
The player is encouraged to manage their items and assets to gain
more and more power within the game and their city. By leveling up, they
gain access to more remote and distant locations and cities such as
Afghanistan and Johannesburg, and eventually Mars and "Otherworld". Gang
warfare acts as a medium for acquiring "Turf" (measured in city
blocks), which provides income and challenges to the gang that controls
it.
===Status/Stats===
A player's status is broken down into 5 categories: Energy, Will,
Bravery, Experience and Health. Players can gain experience by engaging
in events such as attacks or crimes or even a little bit from going to
the gym. Different occurrences in the game can bolster or damage other
aspects of their status such as health or energy. When a player is
damaged in combat, they lose health, when they fight or go to the gym,
they lose energy and will, both of which are replenished over time.
Bravery is used when players do crimes.
===The Streets===
The menu has access to many different aspects, primarily "the
streets". This menu is divided into six different categories, each with
its own use: The Market, The Hood, Money Makers, Turf Central, Shadey
Trading, Travel/Finance, Useful Statistics, and "Follow Us" with it's
access to twitter and facebook links.
====The Market====
The market gives you access to shops, an item market, and a crystal
market. The shops vary depending on which city and district players are
in but primarily consist of drug and weapon dealers. The Item and
Crystal markets give you access to a small, player-driven economy of
item trading.
====The Hood====
The Hood gives you quick access to Gangs, their wars, and their
cemetery, which give access to a list of clans, who's fighting who, and
players that have recently been killed, respectively. The Funny Farm tab
provides a list of players that have been banned or suspended because
of abuse to game policy. The next tab, the Whore House, provides players
with a means of quickly gaining will at the expense of some energy. The
last tab is the Battle Tent, where players can fight for prize money.
====Money Makers====
The Money Makers icon provides access to a series of gambling
options such as Lucky Boxes, Video Poker, Blackjack, Slots, Roulette and
Poker. Each selection leads to it's respective mini-game.
====Turf Central====
Turf Central offers access to three tabs: Gang Turf, Turf Wars, and
Street Corner. Gang Turf shows the amount of "Turf" controlled by
players. The next tab provides a list of Turf Wars, both past and
present. For active wars, a list of kills and the names of active
organizations are provided. For those former wars, it shows a total
score, a list of participants, ending date, and the player who claimed
the territory.
====Shadey Trading====
This tab offers a backdoor way to trade items or prestige within the
game when the market is not an option or an otherwise unappealing
medium.Game credits, gang respect, crystals and votes can all be
exchanged.
====Travel/Finance====
The Travel and Finance tab provides access to a way to Travel
between cities and locations around the world, or in some cases
off-world. It also manages the Loan Sharks, Banks, and Estate agents to
provide players with a means of acquiring loans, depositing or
withdrawing money, and buying and selling property, respectively.
====Useful Statistics====
The final major tab provides a way for players to view the Hall of
Fame, a list of users online, a complete list of users, a directory of
game staff, and a "Game Stats" tab which show everything from total
number of players to the amount of cash in circulation.
===Other Icons===
From the main menu, players can also access other districts, accept
missions, join battle tournaments, go to the hospital, gym or jail,
access chat, open their Gang window, or access the search option. There
are also tabs, arranged vertically and beneath the icons, that provide
access to Your Stuff, Pet Stuff, a shortcut to the Street Corner and
hospital, "Have Your Say" which is a means of voting and forum access,
"Settings and Information" which manage account info, and a Donators
Only tab, which has a friends list, enemies list, and error report
section for players that donate. Finally, there is a game clock at the
very bottom.
